Give me wings, My Lord! Oh, I wish I could see my creation! I wish I was a bird who can fly over the hills, over the church I built for your glory. I wish I could admire the beauty of my work, but I have only my imagination you gave me to draw that temple on the rocks. Far, far away from the people's settlements, in the middle of a silent, heavenly place where will come the pilgrims till the end of the world... - could think or even say the architect of the Tatev Monastery, standing on the ravine's edge.

We actually don't know what was in his mind, but according to one of the legends here took place a miracle. As we can read on the official webside, God sent down the wings to the master who said: "Ognir, Surb, ta tev!" (“May the wing’s Holy Spirit send down!”). The legend, called later Tatev, was so influent that it was not only told from one to another generations, but also the world longest aerial ropeway was built here almost at the end of an armenian land to give people the wings and show them the beauty of the Tatev Monastery. So the aerial tramway is given a name Wings of Tatev (orm. Տաթևի թևեր, Tatewi tewer). Since 2010 everyone who travels to the Tatev Monastery with the ropeway, is given the wings.

There is also a danger, when you go with the Wings of Tatev. Danger of missing the most spectacular view of the sanctum. The ropeway leads you exactly to the entrance of the monastery complex but the best perspective is from above where we have to go by taxi or if we have time, on foot. I missed the view - one of the most beautiful in the world. As I traveled with the group, I was lack of time and I couldn't do and see everything I wanted. It has long been known that time is the best companion of the travelers. I had to decide: go to the other hill and take the best picture of my life or... stay in the monastery and drink an Easter tea with the monks. I chose the tea. And a conversation. So I can't show you a miracolous view, but luckily you can see it in every guidebook or just go to Tatev Monastery by yourself. For sure it is worth of spending long hours in bus to be given the wings at least once in life. The landscape on the way helps as well. Bon voyage!

Wielkanoc 2017 roku. W niedzielę wielkanocną dziecko wstaje o świecie, by wybrać się do klasztoru.

W lekkim upojeniu raz po raz to przymykam senne powieki, to zamieniam kilka słów z przeuroczą przewodniczką, to w pośpiechu łapię kadry.
